Deepak initiated his passion for music right from his childhood days, with a beginning in Indian Carnatic music. As time paced by, his interest switched to the keyboard. Post his graduation, as his career graph made no exciting movement up the slope, Deepak decided to give-up his musical career. But fate and destiny had different plans piled up for him in the store.
Each time he tried selling his keyboard, it would always come back into his own hands. “Whenever the guy who bought it from me with small amount in advance, he would later fail to pull together rest of the money that he had promised for my keyboard and finally ended up giving it back to me”, said Deepak.
As the old adage goes “Third Time's a Charm”, after the third attempt to sell the keyboard, it happened that the Siddique-Lal duo invited him to join their group for their stage shows in the United States, where he was to render music that would fill the time in between various programmes. With the intention to hunt a job in marketing, sales or any related fields, except music, he travelled to US. But fate had stored up something very interesting in Deepak’s musical career. Siddique, who heard his compositions, appreciated his talent in music compositions and later encouraged him to pursue music as his career. It was those words that boosted his confidence in taking up music as his career.
As soon as he flew down to Kerala and as a next step to spruce up his passion and career in music, he joined A.R Rahman's band in 1999. His years of continual training, preparations, and practices brought him back to Siddique who had asked him to compose music for his then upcoming movie 'Chronic Bachelor' – Deepak’s first movie.
Later with much more exposure to the film industry, he focused on composing a wide array of music and started working with eminent musicians like A.R Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Sandeep Chowta, Vidyasagar, Anu Malik, M.M. Kreem, Mani Sharma, Adesh Shrivastav, etc.
